New York Knicks (33-49) ...

ADDITIONS: Matt Barnes (Philadelphia), Eddy Curry (Chicago), Antonio Davis (Chicago), Channing Frye (Arizona), Jerome James (Seattle), David Lee (Florida), Quentin Richardson (Phoenix) and Nate Robinson (Washington).

SUBTRACTIONS: Allan Houston (retired), Jermaine Jackson, Bruno Sundov (Lucentum Alicante), Mike Sweetney (Chicago) Kurt Thomas (Phoenix), Tim Thomas (Chicago) and Jerome Williams (retired).

STRENGTHS: Larry Brown is on the bench ... He has a history of making mediocre teams good ... This will be a more than decent defensive team if Brown has his will ... With players like Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford or Quentin Richardson, the Knicks can boast of one of the best backcourts in the Eastern Conference on talent alone ... With the additions of Eddy Curry, Jerome James and Channing Frye, they will have the size and offensive talent in the paint they've lacked in the past ... Pretty deep team ... They have quite a few impressive athletes ... Although young, Nate Robinson and Trevor Ariza are very intriguing.

WEAKNESSES: Too many players with a me-first attitude ... Can they coexist – namely Stephon Marbury – with Larry Brown? ... Will Marbury and Crawford share the ball more? ... There are not many good passers on the team ... Allan Houston was the only pure shooter on the team ... Isiah Thomas took big risks with Jerome James and Eddy Curry ... Will they play hard on a nightly basis? ... Curry's health issues are something to worry about ... Kurt Thomas' rebounding and toughness may be missed.

PROJECTION: 2nd in the Atlantic Division / 6th in the Eastern Conference

.PROJECTED STARTERS
Point guard
Stephon Marbury
Shooting guard
Jamal Crawford
Small Forward
Quentin Richardson
Incredible talent. One of only two players to average 20 points and 8 assists in his career. Has never won more than 45 games in a season.
Shoot-happy combo guard with more than decent playmaking skills. Pretty weak. Doesn't play much defense. That will have to change with Brown.
Very impressive athlete with good all-around skills. Can score, rebound and play pretty good defense. Really excels in the open court.
Power Forward
Eddy Curry
Center
Jerome James
Sixth Man
Malik Rose
Very dangerous offensive player. When in shape, he will usually command double teams in the post. Mediocre defender.
A big question mark. Has the tools to be a dominant presence near the basket, but his attitude is very questionable.
Should be one of Brown's favorites. Always plays hard. Very undersized for the power forward spot. Good athlete.
